WIP : Magenta Dragonscale Fever Bodice

Just dropping some pictures of my current work-in-progress! I am making the Fever Bodice from George & Ginger Patterns with this amazing ponte from Boho Fabrics.

This is my toile since I have never made this pattern before and I measured a size smaller than usual. I'm also experimenting with adding some plastic boning, which I have never used before.

I'm adding this to my "To Make" list, though I will have to come back to it when I finish the Glam Goth Pinspiration I am currently working on.

A few notes...

1.)

The crushed velvet is more green than pictured and it is from Hobby Lobby. I got it for about $5/yard, so I bought all they had left!

2.)

The leopard is athletic knit from Blended Thread Fabrics.

3.)

The top is the same pattern and material I will be using for the Glam Goth outfit.

I have been using Canva to create "Vision Boards" of outfits I want to make. I found the overall look for this outfit on Pinterest, then went through the patterns and fabric I already have to come up with the elements to pull it together.

Now the real work begins!

I am going to start with making the pants using the "Pleats to Meet You" pattern from Pattern Emporium. The pattern has the pleats at the top like my pinspiration, but the legs are tapered. I am going to make them straight from the shorts cut line down to the ankle.

I gave my website's home page a makeover and it is much more 'me' than the grid style I had before. It was a lot of work and there is still a lot more to do. With my renewed interest in keeping tracking of my makes here, I'm also realizing that I stopped adding projects about a year ago. That leaves a lot of makes to catalog. In the meantime, you can at least see most of them via my home page and I will continue working on getting their details recorded in the 'Makes' section.

Progress!

These pants just need topstitching around the waist and the legs hemmed. I am using the Restore pattern from Greenstyle (relaxed fit, size E).

I stumbled across Indie-Pattern.com when I was searching for a new pattern. Currently everything is 70%. With most PDF patterns regularly $10, that puts many at $3!

I’ve got an early start on these pants, but it is slow going with life happening. I am going to wear them to an event January 30, so I have time, but I am also going to make a fabulous top to wear.

This picture shows that I have cut out the leg panels and attached the pockets with fabric glue. Tomorrow I will sew on the pockets and hopefully sew the legs together. I am considering  adding a strip of the black fabric down the outside of each leg.

I finally finished some more of the curtains for my craft room. There are 11 windows in this room! This set of 6 panels plus the others I finished previously leaves me with three windows to cover.
The fabric is from Joann. I actually got it at a great deal of $5 per yard!

My current book. It has been a very slow read and it reads…weird. Each chapter is from a specific character’s perspective. They are short chapters, so I am going to try reading instead of scrolling when I need a break from work today.

January 21 Update

I finished this book. It was pretty slow 3/4 of the way through, which was a lot of somewhat boring reading to get to the last few chapters that were really good. I went ahead and ordered the two other books in the series and am taking a break from reading until they arrive.

I was asked to make the “gifts” for the person who came in last in my husband’s fantasy football league. “Football” is from an iron on transfer. I used my Cricut to cut out “Fantasy” and “Loser” using glitter mesh.

I have the honor of accepting an award from my boss in front of my peers at work. Of course I put together a vision board of the outfit I want to wear! The overall look is drawn from the outfit Kristy at George & Ginger Patterns made - the October Cloak and wide-legged pants.

The Deets...

I will be making the October Cloak with a black glitter stretch velvet from Boho Fabrics. For the pants, I will do the wide-legged version of the Restore pants from Greenstyle Patterns with a sequined jersey knit from Amanda's Bundles.
